Bashaud Breeland is scheduled to visit the Oakland Raiders Sunday. The following day he will meet with Brett Veach and the Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams lack depth in their secondaries. On the Chiefs side, having Breeland to go along with Kendall Fuller, and David Amerson would be a little more comforting. The main question is, is Breeland healthy?
For those unfamiliar with Breeland, he had signed a three year 24 million dollar deal, just to have it voided after failing his physical earlier this offseason. Breeland suffered a cut to his foot that became infected. That’s an expensive cut. Luckily for Breeland, he’s only 26 and will have an opportunity to prove his health. He’s only missed four games in his career, so I think Veach is looking to see if Breeland can maintain that durability.
According to, Pro Football Focus, Bashaud Breeland received a rating of 79.0, which is 54th among all cornerbacks. It’s not a stat that jumps out at you but considering the Chiefs depth, I’d be happy to see him in KC. It’s worth mentioning Breeland has played with David Amerson, Kendall Fuller, Jarvis Jenkins, and Sammy Watkins at some point in his football career. So, don’t be surprised if those ties are enough to give K.C. an edge over Oakland. Throw in the fact the Chiefs have more cap space and I think there’s a good chance the Chiefs will be in the driver seat on this one.
