Armani Watts suffered an ankle injury day one of Chiefs training camp. It’s unknown how serious the injury is as of now, he was taken to the locker room instead of the trainers’ tent. If that’s any indication, Watts injury could be serious. Obviously, we’re all hoping he’s healthy and can maintain that health. Watts will be fighting for time with, Eric Murray.
Watts has generated some good buzz since being drafted out of Texas A&M. At A&M, he forced 16 turnovers in four years. After releasing Ron Parker, the Chiefs need to fill that safety spot. The Chiefs will have a young secondary this year, so early injuries are highly inconvenient for those younger guys trying to learn the defense, and get used to the speed of the game. Chiefs Kingdom has seen guys like Sanders Commings come in with huge hype, but be derailed by injuries early in their career. So the keyword throughout training camp is HOPE. Let’s hope young and old Chiefs can stay healthy. If not, watch out for a Veach trade to solidify the defense….or possibly a Bashaud Breeland signing.
